Chapter One was the Introduction to Wellness, Fitness, and Lifestyle Management. In this chapter the most important thing I learned is that people are in control of their health and behavior. I learned that being active and keeping your body healthy is the best way to have a positive and happy lifestyle. I also learned that the best way to have an effective change is to have a plan by collecting date on behavior and keeping notes and the data in a journal, analyzing the data, setting specific goals, devising strategies, for modifying the environment, rewarding yourself, and involving others, and making a personal contract. I can use these things in my daily life because I know that when I take care of my body I am much happier and in a greater mood. I learned that environmental health encompasses all the interactions of humans with their environment and the health consequences of those interactions. I also learned that factors that may limit human population are food, availability of land and water, energy, and minimum acceptable standard of living. I also learned that carbon dioxide and other natural gases act as a greenhouse around the earth, increasing the temperature of the atmosphere. Levels of these gases ware rising through human activity which could change the climate. I can use this information in my daily life because sometimes people do not think about the damage they can cause to the earth and just go on living their lives, but after reading about how much damage we can cause to it I will personally try to take care of the earth and be more alert when throwing things away, and do my part as much as I can even for little things such as
