Is Marijuana Use Safer than Alcohol Use? Most people know what alcohol and marijuana is and will more than likely be exposed to them at least once in their life. For those who don’t, Marijuana is a naturally grown plant called cannabis. There is two different strains of marijuana, Indica and sativa. Cannabis is a schedule I drug. Alcohol, is in beer, wine, and liquor. It comes from fermentation of sugars. Unlike marijuana, alcohol is legal in the United States. These substances are generally used in parties and special occasions for some type of celebration. Marijuana and alcohol gives a different sensation and effects to the user of the substance. Both seen as negative effects on the user but both used so often by Americans. Alcohol has been accountable for way more deaths than marijuana. This includes includes direct effect from the substance and accidents that occur while intoxicated. Alcohol is more showcased and advertised since it is legal. So kids grow up watching commercials that make alcohol look appealing, so at a young age kids start to try drinking. The more they do it, the more they depend on the substance.
