As person whose never addicted to drugs, i disagree the legalization of marijuana. CAMH's argument believe that with 40% of Canadian have marijuana experience and 20% of the Canadian between the age of 15-24 admitted to using marijuana last year, government's rigorous restriction on selling marijuana would be better than simply prohibition. The regulations include Government monopoly, minimum age and amount of purchase, and bans on marketing, advertising and promotions. In my opinion, legalizing marijuana will lead to popularize in the society, causing more people to approach and consume, but without stricter laws and prohibitions, the regulations are meaningless to decline users of marijuana. First of all marijuana is easy to grow and less process to use, which mean it is harder to control the growing and trading of marijuana, whereas tobacco and alcohol are industrial products that need professional skills and permissions to manufacture. Moreover, marijuana catains much more tar than tobacco, which means cannabis smoking are much likely to get cancer. Taking 3-4 cannabis cigarette are as harmful as taking approximately 20 tobacco cigarette. Beside physical harm, marijuana will cause anxiety and panic in short terms, as well as slow reaction, lost of distance perception, alertness and concentration, which is dangerous during driving. Afterward, people start to feel calmness, stable and happiness, and that's why marijuana user will be mentally dependent.
