Jealousy can cause one to act on fear or rage because they might lose something of value to them. The theme of jealousy can be seen throughout many works of art. We see these many examples in art, literature, news, and other mediums because jealousy is very common place in life. These works also try to warn us of taking the rugged route of acting on our jealousy. The story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury is about human nature and jealousy. This story shows us how cruel humans can be when they are jealous of another. In the story kids from Venus will get to see the sun for the first time. In the story Iago is jealous of Cassio; who got appointed lieutenant by Othello instead of Iago. In his jealousy, he decides to frame Cassio and ruin or destroy both Othello and Cassio. He convinces Othello that Cassio is having an affair with his wife. This makes Othello jealous of his wife; this causes Othello to kill his wife and sends Iago to kill Cassio. When Iago’s scheme to frame Cassio is discovered Othello attacks Iago and kills himself in his sadness. For his crimes Iago is sent away to be executed. The jealousy of Iago and Othello ended up killing them both and a few other people. Jealousy was the ultimate downfall of Othello and Iago. Although the kids in “All Summer in a Day” consequences weren’t as severe as Othello and Iagos, they still had drawbacks.
