Being “just a nurse” has never defined Julie. She researched and compiled information on regulations and guidelines for patients, insurances, healthcare business, opening business and everything else that would help her to cultivate her dreams. Along the way there were bumps. Sometimes you have to skin your knee after falling off a bike before you get back on and learn to ride. With the pain of a scraped knee, you will always remember and try not to fall off again. When you are a small business owner, there is no corporate backing. All Julie had was money saved and her own merit. Learning to be an employer, especially in healthcare has its growing pains. There is turn around with employees, especially with the rapid growth of nurses in the field. Patients are hard to forecast, so financially it can be a shot in the dark at times. The relationships Julie had built at UNMC and with some private doctors would be significant to aiding to grow her patient referrals. Her familiarity in Cardiac patients is why her focus with Home Nursing with Heart specializes in Cardiac home health.
