• Put First Things First.
This is done by managing your time and yourself well. The way to manage time is by importance and urgency and the way you manage yourself is by your values and integrity.
For this section I was rated an average of 91 out of 100. This line of thinking was easier for me to embrace as I am more driven by the actual results than by planning for them or visualizing them. However, I was very critical of myself in this area as well; I provided myself with a 60. After looking over the results of the report, I the biggest issue I personally had was prioritizing my work, so I spent much of the time on the items of most importance. The greatest aspect others felt I needed to work on was responding to requests in a timely manner.
• Think Win-Win.
According to the course, Win/Win is a frame of mind and people tend to seek mutual satisfaction and resolution. This lends itself to the concept that there is an alternate way to think, which balances courage and consideration. Another component of Win-Win is trust; without it, you can only strive for compromise. Win-Win is very difficult to achieve in law enforcement when dealing with criminals but is necessary in dealing with other law enforcement organizations.
