The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) allowed me to reflect on my current practice as a leader and examine my performance. I found the LPI to be very comprehensive because it not only made me think about my behaviors but the impact of my behaviors as well. The question that surprised me the most was question 24. It asked whether or not I allow others the opportunity to choose how to accomplish their work. While I consider myself to be flexible person, I do tend to have a preference on how I like certain things accomplished. This made be wonder if maybe I am actually not as flexible as I think. I really should ask others how they would like to complete a task more often because it may just be that they have a better or more efficient way of doing something. I sat in disbelief as I read question 25 which asked if I routinely motivate staff by speaking about other member’s accomplishments. These questions inquired whether or not I persuasively communicated the future of the organization and if I routinely ask for feedback on the impact of my leadership on the performance of others. Again, I believe that I am as colorful as possible when I discuss our future goals but then again that is my perception. I would have to inquire from staff whether or not they think I inspire them to look to the future. Reflecting on question 16, I now realize that I need to find ways to solicit feedback on my performance as a leader. I think it would be rather interesting to see how my team members would answer this inventory on my behalf, I am inclined to think I may not fair as well. The creators likely included these questions in their assessment because they ask one to examine the outcome ones actions and or the effectiveness of the leadership traits or
