My Leadership Philosophy: Matthew Thompson The purpose of this assignment is to develop a personal leadership philosophy. The objectives of this philosophy are to define leadership, reflect on leadership influences, identify personal values, and reflect on feedback received from direct subordinates, co-workers, and managers. This simple action will create an avenue for enhanced professional development. Although I might internally understand lessons learned, it is vital for the professional development of my subordinates that I share those lessons so they may become better leaders. Envisioning the Future The five practices of exemplary leadership: modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, challenging the process, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart are all foundations that are instrumental to a leader. Through this exercise, I have reflected on past experiences, my personal values, and feedback received from direct support, co-workers, and managers. Going forward, applying personal reflection toward the five practices of leadership, accounting for my personal values, and actively implementing approaches to improve areas of my execution of the five practices of leadership will be paramount to my journey toward becoming a better leader. Leadership is a continual, evolving process that is never complete, which requires an individual to actively reflect and learn from their actions, and
