This course gives me an insight of what type of leadership skills will be most compatible with me as a nurse. Nursing can be a tough field to work in because in nursing it is all about being compassionate, caring, and think critically. Throughout the course, there were 7 questionnaires that showed me what type of nurse I would be as a leader. As a CCU (Critical Care Unit Nurse), my philosophy to be a leader should involve being approachable and hard working. Many followers expect a leader to confident and competent and have the ability and capabilities to vision success to inspire others that will follow. However, my skills to maintain disciplinary action and get back to work is low but it outweighs my approach with regulates stressors and get back on the balcony techniques. I am able to set back and view the different complexities and make sure a good work environment is a safe work environment. I must work on my people skills in order to build strong relationships to have people approach me and feel comfortable to come and talk so that I can keep the channels of communication open. Nursing is that type of career that learning is always constant, so having to stay open minded and listen can bring trust and others will show that they can always come to you. For example, when I started my position in ICU, I noticed how some of the nurses already had a sense of pessimistic energy towards me while some has optimism. I always came to work with a positive attitude and respected the nurses (even though we work as the same position) that are veterans to the hospital with humbleness. Once the nurses that already thought good of me, they got the other nurses that were judgmental towards me to agree with them. There are new nurses coming and going and communicating and promoting to other nurses can influence their work behavior and environment. There are those few nurse leaders who has not establish a positive leadership behavior and the new nurses are having to go elsewhere for skills to a less knowledgeable nurse which causes mistakes to happen. Communication is the key for success and organization. I should help nurse leaders who do not notice their behavior by speaking up in order to maintain a good relationship with their subordinates and improve work relationship and environment to equal the
