The KKK stands for Ku Klux Klan. The KKK was founded on December 24, 1865 in Pulaski, Tennessee. The Ku Klux Klan holds very extremist views. They are primarily known for as being racist, against colored people. The KKK believes in white supremacy. White supremacy is the belief that the white race is superior to all other races. The Ku Klux Klan’s uniform has stayed the same over all of the years. They were an all white uniform with a hood. The hood covers the whole face except for the eyes, it is a cone-shape. The KKK logo consists of a white cross with a red circle around it. There is also a red teardrop-like figure in the middle of the cross. They originally wore the color white to act as a ghost to pull pranks on the African-Americans. The KKK was very religious and believed in christianity, so it’s pretty weird for the KKK to burn crosses, right? The Ku Klux Klan burned crosses to show service and their dedication to the cross. They set the crosses on fire to “send light throughout the world”. There have been 3 “klans” throughout the lifespan of the KKK. The first Klan flourished in the late 1860s in the southern United States. It died out by the early 1870s. They sought to overthrow the republican government by using violence against the African-americans. However, it came to an end in 1871 due to federal law enforcement. The second Klan was the most successful. It had the most members than the other two by millions. It was founded in 1915 and was very popular by the mid-1920s. They opposed catholics and jews. There was around 3-6 million people during the second Klan’s peak in 1924-25. However, the second Klan rapidly declined in the second half of the
