Growing up homeschooled left me without the same sort of guidance councilor or tests to help create a career path that many of my friends had. Because of this when I started my junior year in high school, I began racking my brain on which path I should pursue. While working through my two year degree I discovered a true passion for political science and because of conversations I had with professors, advisors, and other adults around me, I recognized law as an opportunity. As I continued to research in order to discover if this would be the right path for me, many people I talked to during this time only solidified law as my preferred path. Thomas for many reasons, some of these include: the close location to my home and the school’s reputation for high quality education. Although these played a role in my choice in applying to the school, the more important reasons for my choice lie in the opportunity to choose from a multiplicity of focuses along with potential of participating in the joint J.D./M.B.A program. This is because, firstly I am currently unsure of what field of law to pursue, so the expansive range of focuses benefit me, allowing me not to be pigeonholed by a school that only offers a few focuses. Secondly I view the J.D./M.B.A joint program as a possibility. Although a career in law is my final goal, the added benefit of an M.B.A would be a wonderful asset to have with future potential employers. Throughout my schooling, even when compared to my friends, I was fairly adept at most course work. This allowed me to, during the final two years of high school, to participate in Minnesota’s post secondary enrollment option program at North Hennepin Community College. PSEO allows top students to take college courses through high school and amass both high school and college credit. Both this experience and my time at the University of Minnesota afterwards helped mold me into the person I am today. This stems from the difficulties I had during my time at both North Hennepin Community College and at the University of Minnesota. Due to my home schooling, I never truly worked with firm due dates so it was a hill I had to climb the first semester. As for my time at the University of Minnesota I started my majors immediately, which relied upon more skillful writing than I had done before, this was problematic for me during the first year, yet through the third semester I really improved. I feel like both of these experiences have really aided my growth, not only teaching perseverance, but also how to more quickly overcome harder
