Growing up as a child, I was always being put in leadership roles. It was easy for me to attribute this to the fact that I’m the first of four children, however, over the years I have realized that leadership as a skill is a natural endowment. This was all still vague to me until one day, an extended family member was ill, and we had to go visit her at the hospital. Whilst every other person was focused on the sick family member, I was fascinated by the hospital system, walking around the hospital and observing how activities were going on. Subconsciously, I started taking notes, penning down things that I felt were in order and things that I felt were out of order and needed to be improved. I just knew that I wanted to be more than being the physician or the nurse, and in my endeavor to work in the healthcare system I decide to get a degree in Clinical laboratory science. During the period of training as a clinical laboratory scientist, my coordination and organizational skills were very useful; as the profession is a very sensitive one. Furthermore, these skills made it easy for me to be identified for leadership positions yet again. In my second year as a college student, I was appointed the class representative, this lapsed till I graduated as a college student and in my fourth year, I was encouraged to run for the office of the vice president for Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association (NIMELSSA) Babcock University chapter which I did and won. During my tenure as the vice president, I was given an award for outstanding leadership by the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students.
