Drew Britson Mrs. Neuberger Comp 2 March 2 2023 The One that got Away The beginning of the end for Robert started on June 13 1983 when he was roaming the streets of Anchorage looking for his next victim when he came across Cindy Paulson a prostitute who was working the streets. Cindy was a young 17 year old who went down a bad path and having to work in the bad parts of town just to survive. Robert rolled down his window offering 200 dollars for just a blow job but when Cindy refused his proposal he got mad offering even more money. Reluctant Cindy agreed because she knew she needed the money and hopped in the car before Robert held a gun to her head telling her to shut up. He then brought her back to his house where he would keep her in the basement like the rest raping and sexually assaulting her for days. After a week or so Robert had had enough with Cindy and prepared to bring her to his plane and do what he had done to all of his other victims but as they arrived at the airport Robert left to load up the plane. Cindy was in the passenger seat handcuffed and naked and went to the driver's side to unlock the doors and before Robert could catch her she had run off fleeing for her life. At the time of his trial he decided to plead not guilty before realising their was no use and pleaded guilty. With all of the crimes he commited with the four murders along with raping and attempted murder and kidnapping of Cindy Paulson, his charge came to 461 years in prison without parole (SC 5). Robert had agreed to help the FBI in finding some of the other bodies that had not been found. The FBI took him in a plane and had him point out all of the locations of where the bodies were.
