"The Renaissance", also known as the beginning of modern art, started in the early 1400s and continued into the early 1600s. It began in Florence, Italy and quickly spread even as far as the Netherlands. During this time paintings and sculptures became more life-like and beautiful because of the advances in science, especially in anatomy. This era of art gave birth to two of the most influential artists of that time, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo.
