With the death of Angelo Bruno and Stanfa in hiding and later imprisoned, a power vacuum was left with the Philadelphia crime family. The self-claimed boss, Philip “Chicken Man” Testa was murdered as well by a nail bomb infront of his home in 1981, and in the end, powerful Atlantic City captain Nicodemo “Little Nicky” Scarfo claimed victory as the new boss of Philadelphia. Scarfo brought a new and notorious regime at the top, as he allegedly ordered the murders of more than 30 people throughout his reign in the 1980s. He tried to gain more influence in New York with the five families through then-current Gambino crime family boss John Gotti but failed. Scarfo was soon indicted on massive charges and sent to prison for the rest of his life
Over my short, seventeen-year lifetime, I have had passions in many areas, from geography to soccer to leadership. However, as I have grown older, I have had a growing passion for the schools in my area because they taught me everything that I know and have given me all the opportunities that I have taken advantage of. Because of this growing passion, I became involved in two very important organizations that influence the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District: the Community Schools Planning Initiative and the Sartell – St. Stephen Board Of Education. The Community Schools Planning Initiative was launched at the start of 2015 in order to come up with a vision for the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District and a plan to match that

I am the sibling of a student currently attending Melrose High School. I am contacting you to request that the district implement healthier start times for middle and high school students attending Melrose Public Schools. Currently, Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School and Melrose High School have a start time of 7:45 a.m. Studies show there should be a delay in morning classes until 8:30 a.m. or later. Doing this will maximize the intellectual potential of the students in our district. Are you and the School Board aware that Melrose High School is apart of the 40% of U.S. schools that start before 8 a.m.?

Dear Rossier School of Education Faculty, Throughout my education I was not expected to succeed, english being my second language and attending low socioeconomic schools in the city of Santa Ana I was deemed to dropout of school like the majority of children before me. I rarely remember having a student-teacher relationship with an educator throughout my education, and as I succeeded academically my teachers were surprised but nothing more than surprised. Then there were the teachers that made all the difference, teachers that went above and beyond and left an everlasting impact on how I view education, and essentially what made achieving a higher education possible. With the guidance of teachers, instructors and school faculty I was admitted to the University of California Irvine which was not only an accomplishment and a dream of mine but an accomplishment for my family. My journey through education is still the reality of many children attending low socioeconomic schools and/or public schools today, Just like the amazing mentors I had throughout my education, I want to make a difference alongside of them by creating positive and supporting
Ever since the first American schools were established in the 17th century, millions of students have been enrolled in the public schooling system since then. However, since the years have passed, the main focus on schooling has been shifted. What once was a place to learn and build upon already acquired knowledge has turned into a setting of extravagant tests. The American public schooling system’s prioritization of standardized testing wastes classroom time, does not teach students the required life skills they need to succeed in life, causes unhealthy stress and is not an accurate measurement of student progress.

Letter to California Department of Education Christina R. Hentz Grand Canyon University Letter to California Department of Education The Honorable Tom Torlakson State Superintendent of Public Instruction California Department of Education 1430 N Street Sacramento, CA 95814-5901 After analyzing the curriculum used to teach and assess our English Language learners here at Harrison K-8 in Pomona Unified and I have come to the conclusion that Common Core State Standards standardized nationwide testing is as much a part of this curriculum just as the common core state standards are. It is quite evident that this testing is culturally biased and does not take into consideration or have adequate accommodations for the English language learners and their learning styles. By definition, “cultural bias in testing refers to a situation in which a given test is inappropriate for a certain audience. When a test does not test the student's actual knowledge of a taught subject or includes details tied to a culture that the student is unfamiliar with,
At the last meeting, the Board, instead of making the hard decision between two group’s interests, chose to placate both groups by spending unnecessary money in an attempt at political correctness. Godwin school feeling the random effect of this political correctness is complaining of this unfair bullying. On the budget, the discussion centered about removing paying for a study comparing whether indeed the Board bureaucracy and its central administration is too overbearing on the system or whether the amount of burden the central administration places on the system is typical for our

Instead, the boss will present a problem and expect its employees to come up with solutions to this problem , anticipated to be presented for discussion later that week. It is expected, in whatever career, to know simple skills like problem solving and even how to write a well-educated report based on research. Many schools have switched over to standardized testing as an accurate measure of a student’s, teacher, and a school’s success. However, evidence shows that standardized tests lead to stress, most importantly,
My name is Emma Hogan and I am a junior at West Delaware High School in Manchester. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in many activities and utilized my leadership skills to help me succeed in the classroom. I take pride in my academic achievements and have always made academics a priority. Being the youngest in my family, I grew up in the shadow of two older siblings who were thoroughly involved in school and worked hard for their grades. Seeing their success was the motivation for me to work hard and take school seriously as well.
Dear Jonathon Smith, Welcome to year 7, as you commence your first week in the senior school at churchie, and I commence my 9th year at churchie, being here since prep I have learnt a lot about the history along the way. The school turns 106 years old in 2018, founded by W.P.F Morris in 1912 and was located at St. Magnus Hall, Church Street, Toowong, Brisbane and commenced on the 8th of February 1912. The school was built on the four tenets; Scholastic attainment, Spiritual awareness, Personal growth and Community service. These tenets have remand virtues of the school throughout history over the past 100 years. Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) is fully owned and operated by the Anglican Church.
However, a school could compensate for lost time by adding time to the end of another day that week if they found this to be an issue. To ensure that four-day school weeks will be implemented throughout school districts, voice concerns to school board members. Although some have oppositions to the idea of a four-day school week, it is clear that this modification would be for the greater good of the schools. By omitting a school day, students, parents, staff, and the environment will benefit
