Living in a Bully Nation: How Would YOU Feel?

As a Nation together we try to address all issues at hand. We even try to resolve problems before they start. What we don’t realize is that in order to get the solutions we need we must find the root of the problem. In America we run many different campaigns for many different causes, such as breast cancer, suicide awareness, and even bullying. However, what we fail to understand is what exactly can lead to the cause of nationwide bullying. Bullying not only affects the victim's self-esteem but it also affects an individual's self-worth, this can lead to social isolation as well. Others that are constantly bullied are usually soft spoken, withdrawn and insecure because of the fear that their bully would lash out or embarrass them in public. Bullying and depression are commonly close in relation. Depression, however happens to be a two-way street in which it affects both the bullies and their scared victims. Sadly however, victims of cyberbullying may be at an even higher risk for depression. According to the article: Bullying Depression, “a recent study by the US National Institutes of Health, reported by Reuters, found that victims of cyberbullying showed more signs of depression than other bullying victims. This may be because cyber bullying can be more relentless and more frightening or discouraging, especially if the bully is anonymous (Bullying Statistics)”.Depression is huge problem that tends to cause a number of serious effects on a person’s way of life.
