How would you feel about lowering the drinking age to eighteen? Lowering the drinking age to eighteen years old could be of great benefit for everyone. The legal drinking age has not always been twenty-one. The National Minimum Age Act of 1984 was passed by the United States congress in July of 1984. At age eighteen, you’re officially welcomed into adulthood to take on may responsibilities. It should not be up to the government to tell a legal adult what they can or cannot put into their bodies. If more students knew the consequences of drinking, they would be safer and acknowledge the fact that there are far better things to do than what they may have in mind. Being safe with drinking is something every human being should take seriously. Often, parents let it happen at home because they fear the consequences of their child going out and drinking whether they’re at a party or even out on the highways. Having a designated driver could also be a way to take precaution when going out with your peers. Experiencing liquor or beer for the first time is better when you are at home instead of being in college with new people where you may not be as safe. Supervision plays a big role when trying to make everyone do the right thing and be safer about the decisions being made. If parents would take control and make sure their teenagers aren’t making poor decisions, things wouldn’t get out of hand when it comes to having fun. If more parents would see from the teenagers point of view and take it into consideration to help them, teenagers wouldn't drink to get drunk. They would drink to have fun and spend time with their loved ones. Getting experience early is a great thing so when you go out in college, you know your limit and how to react to the
