1. Why have you decided to apply to this position? During my freshman orientation in the fall of 2016 the OC helped to make the transition into life here at ACPHS go smoothly and minimized the amount of home sickness I felt. This really stuck with me as I was nervous to move to a new place and was unsure if I would fit in in this environment. This experience caused me to apply to OC last year because I wanted to pay it forward to other first years who may be feeling the same way. Having the firsthand experience with OC was some of the most fun I have had. The training didn’t really feel like work and I enjoyed meeting new people and working collaboratively with them. One is that I am more introverted than other OC members. While some may think that this is a weakness, I see it as a strength because a more reserved first year may feel more comfortable approaching someone like me than someone who is more in your face. I was able to make a little family with my fellow OC members, and now have a handful of first years that I still have a friendly relationship with to this day. My least favorite part of OC was probably watching some of the first years disrespect the diversity activity by writing their snapchat on the parking lot. That activity was well planned and very important and I was frustrated that some of the first years treated it like a joke. My group had very meaningful discussion in HAB and I walked to the parking lot feeling inspired. Then I was angered by the first years who misused the event to self-promote their social media. I learned to focus on the positives of the event instead of this one negative aspect, but it was rather frustrating at the time. 8. What additional information would you like us to know about yourself in helping us to consider you for the OC position? I am open about talking about my academic integrity violation to give the first years an example of what not to do. Also, I have had a strange schedule due to transfer credits and am willing to talk to first years about navigating a schedule dissimilar from their
