Before 10th grade, I had an insufficiently rigorous course load to yield a competitive GPA. After taking the most rigorous classes for a year and boosting my GPA, I have decided to help my classmates tackle the competition at my school by helping them organize their schedules and classes for future academic years. I have reached out to these classmates through class projects and tutoring sessions. So far, I have helped about five teenagers become competitive. I have also frequently volunteered at a local food pantry.
Whether as part of the school councils, campaigning for for a new school ping-pong club, or starting my own online business, it is important to me that I get involved in the community. To pick one activity, my participation and leadership in hockey has had a significant impact on my life, and given me many learning opportunities. Being able to teach and support others, some of who come from less fortunate situations, I witnessed first hand the joy and learning that can stem from my leadership in sport. That meant creating an environment free of negative judgement and barriers where teammates were eager to play and work. Couple that with the learning opportunities I was given from coaches and fellow teammates, as well as the happiness that playing
Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, its greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring your own life. - Arnold Schwarzenegger. A Good Man by Mark Shriver and What Teachers Make by Taylor Mali both show the ability of change and making a difference in other people’s lives.
Candidate’s interest in public service: The decisions for those of us who have decided to dedicate their lives to public service have made commitments to this effect for many reasons. For me, the inspiration to do so began around eight o’clock in the morning of September 11, 2001. At the time that I began to experience this realization, I was not exactly sure as to what I could do to help improve the situation. However, I knew instinctively that it was time for me to do something worthy, be a part of something bigger than myself.
Basically, from the article that I have read it actually reminds me again the real sense of being a Public Servant. The reading talks about The New Public Service; Serving rather Steering from the American Society of Public Administration (Advancing Excellence in Public Service) by Robert B. Denhardt & Janet Vinzant Denhardt from the Arizona State University. Personally, the underlying issues that were discussed are the following; The New Public Management & the Old Public Administration, Theories of Democratic Citizenship, Roots of the New Public Service, Models of Community & Civil Society, and Organizational Humanism & Discourse theory. The highlights of the article are the Seven (7) Practical Lessons that the New Public Service suggests
This responsibility can take many forms, including donating time or money to charitable causes, or advocating for policies that address social issues. Ultimately, the choice to help others is not only a moral imperative but also a practical one, as the well-being of our communities and society as a whole is closely linked to the well-being of its individual members. Overall, the examples of Spider-man, sports, and Frederick Douglass all demonstrate the idea that we have a social responsibility to help others. Whether it be through the use of our unique abilities and platforms, or simply by recognizing the interconnectedness of our own success and the success of others, we all have a role to play in making the world a better place through
Service to me means, giving your all to you school and community without expecting anything in return. At a young age, I participated in many fundraising events with my dance team where we provided a service to others such as annual car washes, waiting tables at various restaurants, and organizing dances and activities for kids. In Junior High I was a key club member and we volunteered for concession stand duties, helped out at elementary basketball tournaments, and acted as line judges or referees at volleyball tournaments. Since my mom is a first grade teacher, I spent many summers setting up and organizing her classroom, and on my days off from school, I provided kids in my mom’s classroom with help in reading or math. As a part of Earth Week at our school, I did various jobs for people in my community.
I want to prove to myself that I can excel in a competitive environment; like a phoenix, rising from my ashes. I will continue on with my current activities with the addition of volunteering at my local hospital’s emergency department. I also hope to volunteer overseas in the upcoming months. I will never be able to meet my desire to serve humanity by staying in my own court. I want to help at a global
I like to think of myself as a team player, so although I might not always volunteer, know that I

In every act you do, keep in mind why it is that you're doing it and hopefully you're doing it for the most virtuous reasons-whether it be through maintaining the electricity lines on our roads functional or advising a client on a financial situation. Additionally, it’s important to remember that monetary gains is not the priority in life, rather it's the self-actualization and satisfaction from serving others. Give back to community with your service and the country as a whole will continue to maintain and advance in its undisputed reputation as one of the greatest places to live in. Epitomizing this mindset is John F. Kennedys most inspiring words "ask not what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
First, I expect to have my own law firm in ten years, which will serve both the upper, middle and the lower class through pro-Bono work. In addition, I aim to establish a non-profit organization that supports people who are marginalized, including those suffering from poverty, child marriage victims and survivors, the homeless, the sick, incarcerated people, and much more. I am aware that it will take time to accomplish this goal, so currently, I use my skills to impact change by working with organizations that served is advantaged people. This is one of the reasons why I chose to take a gap year to do a year of service through the Vincentian Volunteers of Cincinnati. In return, my work gives back to me by introducing me to many wonderful people who impact knowledge in me.
Giving back can really change and uplift a community in many ways. It is a reassurance to the people, that one day their struggle will be over. Whether it is words of advice or feeding the hungry it will still benefit someone in some way. In some communities less fortunate than others they tend to lack role models. Having someone in the community constantly giving back can be seen as a role model in the eyes of many children.
Public participation adds skills, concern and ideas. It also leads to solutions that might not have arisen was it not
