Legalization of Marijuana
In Canada 14% of the population has used either medical or non-medical marijuana in the past three months. Of the population who has used marijuana in the last three months, 56% are reported to use marijuana substances daily or weekly (Government of Canada). In Canada recreational use of marijuana is currently prohibited, although the Liberal government says recreational marijuana will be legal on July 1 (although many sources believe the actual date of legalization will be up to three months later than promised) (Global News). Despite recreational marijuana currently being illegal, medical marijuana is currently (and will continue to be) legal in Canada. With marijuana being soon legal in Canada there are numerous factors that will have to be discussed by the country’s law makers, scientists, the general public, and also the Church on how to make legalization as safe as possible and if marijuana should even be legalized.
