The recent walk out by Market Basket employees was one for the record books. Employees for the company picketed, protested, and stood up against company owners in an effort to keep greed from taking over their beloved workplace. Market Baskets employees collectively believed in how the company should be managed and that Arthur T. Demoulas was the person who would ensure that the company was operated as such. Now that the dust has settled, employees have returned to work, and the desired outcome has been reached, it is important that Arthur T. and top management work diligently to get the company back on track and ensure employee’s efforts do not go in vain. A strategic business research project should be established to meet the challenges that the company will face due to the shut down. Now that Market Basket is in the hands of someone who legitimately cares about the company, the employees, and especially the customers, management can research and put together management pitches to bring customers back. For example, maybe a commercial that apologizes to the consumers, and further explanation on how the company intends to get back on track and further better the Market Basket experience. Marketing themselves a whole new way is something that could be crucial for the success of brining customers and employees back to the store. Additionally, Market Basket could let the public decide on ways to make up for lost time and inconvenience. This can be conducted by putting together surveys and public outreach teams.
