Introduction
Since I am serious about growing spiritually, I should have a plan about what I should be doing to grow. When I plan, I will see exactly what I need to do on a day-to-day basis. My plan for spiritual maturity includes what would occur perennially, monthly, weekly, and daily, what verses to memorize, and books to read over the next five years.
Mastering the Calendar Ever year, I plan to attend at least one retreat or conference. Ever since my 10th grade of high school, I have attended a retreat, and each time I attended a retreat, God has given me guidance and encouragement. Since his previous books have impacted my life, I would finish Judah Smith’s How’s Your Soul, a book concerning the human soul. The sermons of Paul Washer have drastically changed my trend of thought; therefore, I desire to read his book about God, Knowing the Living God. Upon reading his book, I hope to have a higher view of God. Since high school, I have looked up to C.S. Lewis for his Christian wit. Subsequently, I intend to finish A Year with C.S. Lewis. Every day, in this devotional, I would hopefully learn from C.S. Lewis. Another devotional that I would hope to complete because it is encouraging and helps me view Jesus Christ more personal, is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Without a doubt, Charles Spurgeon was successful and his impact has continued through the centuries. To have a better understanding of what he taught and why it was impactful, I will read his book, Lecture to My Students. A book that is also renowned in Christian circles is Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, and I will read this book to find out its truths and why it is significant, in hopes of personally growing spiritually. Another author who dramatically influenced the church was Augustine. To understand his thoughts, I would read Augustine’s Confessions. A pastor of mine bestowed to me The Reason for God by Timothy Keller. I hope to read the book to have more confidence in what I believe and be able to better articulate why I believe in God. Lastly, in order to have a better understanding of my future wife, I would read The Five Love Languages by Gary
