I, Demetri Tolbert, am a Point University alumni who graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Child and Youth Development. I am applying for the Masters of Divinity program because I believe the program will provide an opportunity for me to further my knowledge in ministry to not only build an effective ministry, but to grow people in the knowledge of God. On December 31, 2015, I was ordained as a minister of the Gospel under the leadership of my pastor, Bishop Frank McLeod. As I have grown up in and around church, with both Baptist and Pentecostal backgrounds, I have experienced great denominational divide in the body of Christ. However, I know God is too great to be confined within denominational constructs. I believe this program will give me substantial knowledge in breaking barriers that have divided the Body of Christ for so long. I am confident I will grow extensively in Christian leadership as I feel this program will equip me with a stronger and deeper Biblical foundation for effective kingdom work. …show more content…
