Who is the responsible person? In my personal opinion, I think that Mercutio is the one responsible for the events of Romeo and Juliet, and here's why. At the beginning, he is bugging Romeo for being sad about Rosaline. Then when Peter asked for help, he took it as an invitation for themselves. “We shall go for you to see beauties far more beautiful than Rosaline.”
Ms. Brandi Powell 3/18/24 Who’s Fault is it: Romeo and Juliet It’s pretty clear that Romeo and Juliet are both clearly too unstable to be blamed for their deaths because they threaten to kill themselves several times, and get married within 12 hours of having known each other, most of which were asleep. If they never met, no one would have died. So the only other person to be blamed is Mercutio. Mercutio didn’t have the idea to go to the party where Romeo and Juliet met, but he did say that Romeo should dance, which caused Romeo and Juliet to meet and this whole bloody mess to start.
Who is most responsible for the death of Romeo & Juliet in my opinion is Mercutio because he started the full argument between the families. Mercurtio should be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he had to stick his nose in Romeo and Tybalt's business. Mercutio and Tybalt because he called him a King of Cats and it is nothing but one of his 9 lives so Tybalt draws his sword. Romeo goes to stop them and Tybalt stabs Mercutio and kills him. Mercutio says “A plague
One may think it is Juliet’s fault for not telling her father Lord Capulet that she is married to Romeo. Although, some other people may blame Mercutio for drawing his sword against Tybalt. Some people might agree that it is Mercutio’s fault for all six deaths. If Mercutio listened to Romeo and put his sword away then Mercutio, Tybalt, Paris, Romeo, Juliet, and
Romeo is to blame for Mercutio’s death in Act III of Romeo and Juliet. First of all, Romeo did not fight back when Tybalt insulted him. Tybalt calls Romeo a villain and other various names, but Romeo responds by saying (paraphrase), “I love you more than you believe for we are family, even if you are oblivious to this fact. I love the name Capulet as much as I love my own name”(3.1.72-75). When Romeo says this, Tybalt becomes confused and enraged.
Though Mercutio should be held accountable for the fight that led to Tybalt’s and his own death in William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet, Romeo’s inability to make sensible decisions in potentially challenging or stressful moments makes him most responsible. Mercutio’s taunting of Tybalt is justified as Tybalt had just called Romeo, his best friend, a villain. Contrastingly, Romeo’s behavior during the fight was irrational at best. In the first scene of the third act, Mercutio and Tybalt are dueling, Mercutio develops a wound which will lead to his death.
Some people may think that Mercutio is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. They think this because he encouraged Romeo to go to the Capulet party, wanted Romeo to move on, and is the reason Romeo murdered Tybalt and got banished. However, these claims are invalid for countless reasons. All Mercutio was trying to do was uplift his friend and encourage him to stop being sad about Rosaline. It was fate’s fault that Rosaline didn’t love Romeo back and that he met Juliet at the party.
So therefore Mercutio is responsible for the whole entire thing that went on in the play. Mercutio is also the most to blame for the events that occur in Romeo and Juliet because he told Romeo to go with him to the Capulet’s party and crash it. Romeo says “Give me a torch.”
He is to blame for their death because he is the one who took Romeo to the ball, the one who didn’t want to avoid a fight with the Capulets and he was the one to challenge Tybalt to a duel. Mercutio is at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he gives bad advice and not only that, but he also can’t take good advice. For example, Mercutio states, “With all the admired beauties of Verona...go thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show “ (1.2.86-88).
Mercutio can be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio... Tybalt picked a fight with Mercutio, and in the end Mercutio was killed. Romeo decides to get revenge for Mercutio’s death and chases after Tybalt, but in the end accidentally kills Tybalt. Romeo feels guilty for killing Tybalt because he was now Romeo’s family and when he sees Juliet in the tomb along with Tybalt, he breaks down.
Romeo fought Tybalt till he died. Mercutio shows that he will go through any circumstances to make his friends and family happy.
The next day Mercutio met Romeo to say goodbye. before heading out to adventure around the world. “Wait, Mercutio, don’t go yet…” Romeo cried out “I whisper words of wisdom” Mercutio murmured “let it be” “No mercutio, i want to come with you my friend!” “have you gone absolutely mad? do you really want to abandon your life and future?”
While Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet is one of the most iconic archetypes in history; people can agree that supporting character, Mercutio, was a definite favorite with his boisterous attitude and loyal heart, he quickly gained our love as the story went on. As the play went on, and Mercutio’s death took place, we can see that him dying was a big part in the continuance of the play. If Benvolio and he hadn’t pushed Romeo in to so much, if Romeo hadn’t fallen in love with Juliet, or if Mercutio would have listened to Benvolio, then maybe the brazen teenager would have lived. At the beginning of the play, Romeo was depressed and very gloomy due to the fact that his crush, Rosaline, didn’t return his affection.
Death and tragedy engulf the people of Verona, who is to blame for this big mess? If you go back to the beginning of William Shakespeare 's play “Romeo and Juliet” it is easy to see this tragedy wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Mercutio and his tendency to meddle in other people’s lives. First he convinced Romeo that his love for Rosaline wasn’t worth it and he needed to get over her. He then led Romeo to his horrific fate when he forced Romeo to crash the Capulet party, where he would first meet his future bride Juliet.
I believe that Shakespeare choose to develop his character, to add a light comedic, contrast the more serious Romeo. He is constantly joking and making puns which adds pace to the play and entertains the audience. Shakespeare has many symbols of light and dark through the play and Mercutio’s role is key to this theme. His light hearted attitude to life and his Queen Mab speech which starts light but becomes very dark and finally his death which which is both light and dark. Mercutio is neither a Montague nor a Capulet, but because he is Romeo's friend, stands with the Montagues.
