I think the most significant statement in Dei Verbum is in the very first chapter when God chooses to reveal himself to make the purpose of is will known to the world. He wants us to know his love for us and revelation is not just words about God but it is the living experience of God. Through Christ, God made his word flesh so that so man can come share in the divine nature through the Holy Spirit.

Since God reveals himself through Christ, we become aware of how God is complete in himself and is ultimate over all things. We understand the purpose for human existence through getting to know God and what he is like. He makes it known through deeds and words, “the deeds wrought by God in the history of salvation manifest and confirm the teaching
