My Nursing Philosophy Paper

899 Words4 Pages

A nurse’s philosophy is characterized by their values, principles, and beliefs developed by education and practice. As a pre-nursing student the development of my nursing philosophy will take place during my experience in nursing school. For those reasons I believe as a patient I would be given the NANDA, “deficient knowledge regarding condition, therapeutic regimen, and potential complications” (Doenges, Moorhouse, & Murr, 2013, p. 1115). As a patient I need a nurse with the right qualities to help me gain a better understanding of the actions I can take to reduce my hypertension. Taylor et al. (2015) note that Dorothy E. Another issue commonly faced by patients with hypertension is adherence to their medications. The Texas Pharmacy Association has started the Texas Hypertension Adherence Project in order to alleviate the problem. The Texas Pharmacy Association (n.d.) notes, “Beginning February 1, 2016 and continuing through August, 2016, Texas pharmacists will increase efforts to help patients in their community to better understand their medications, with the goal of improving adherence to the patients’ chronic medications for hypertension” (How Can Texas Pharmacists Help?). In doing so the project may be able to reduce the risk for developing a secondary heart disease or stroke and improve the knowledge of the
