Improvement on Transitions
Starting off the semester in my first English based college course made me anxious. I did not know what to expect from my instructor, or how hard the course would be. My worst subject in school was always English because I could never grasp the concept of transitions. So as I entered into my first college course I had bated breath. I only knew the basic knowledge of English like commas, prepositions, and punctuations. Transitions were always a struggle and in English Composition 1 I realized that I needed to improve quickly. The quality of my writing has improved since the beginning of the semester, especially my transitions from the first paper to the latest one.
Transitioning has continually been my utmost struggle and I can now express the improvement I have built since the first paper, which was the introductory essay. Transitions appeared effortless to me and for the first time I completely recognized where a transition was required to go within my essay. When I commenced my initial paragraph I had a no difficulty transitioning from my introduction into my primary body paragraph as well as my transitions from one body paragraph to the next. Furthermore, I was able to introduce why volunteering was important and close my introduction paragraph while forming an efficient transition into the following body paragraph (“ The Importance of Volunteering”1). Additionally, excelling my expectation in transitions encouraged myself to bring about my additional struggles and anticipate on succeeding in surpassing them. Receiving slight feedback involving transitions from my previous paper lead me to believe that I had excelled my expectations and finally acquired the basic concept of
