My Writing Class Reflection

My writing experience prior enrolling in this class wasn’t that great. I have always been struggling to express my thoughts in word because the lack of vocabulary knowledge. Before taking this class, I was taught to write in a five paragraph style and in certain format for every single essay. However, in this class,I was encouraged to write in my own style. The writing assignment that we get in this class allowed me to pick topic that I am interested in writing about. Comparing to other writing classes that I have taken before, this class gives me more freedom to be myself. Because of that, I felt more comfortable with writing now. Also, I believe my writing has improved because of the course reading and the help from my professor. The most significant improvement in my writing is analysis and sentence structure.
Challenges that I experienced in this class are coming up with a complete idea for my essays. There’s always flaws in my rough draft ideas. But, with the feedback from Professor Gautreau and my peers, usually I get told where’s the unclear part or confusing part of the essay. …show more content…

I hope through these writing assignments, readers of my portfolio are able to tell how much I have improved ever since the beginning of the semester. Also, I would like my audience to know a little more about me as a writer or person because all the topics for my essays are about me or things that I care about. In essay one, it’s about my experience with writing. In essay two, it’s about Asian stereotype that I grew up with. Last but not least, in essay three and four, it’s about advertisement and social issue that I am interested and care
