Should I stay the way I am, or should I change in order to fit in what society sees as the ideal woman? This is a troubling question that many women face in today's society, because of the media myth of influence on identity. Today I will be talking about how the negative influence of the media regarding body image is a myth.

You may be asking yourself how is the media influence on body image a myth ? Well does the media change your personal opinion towards something? Not necessarily, correct?

The myths of the media influencing on a person perceptions about their appearance does not cause or lead individuals to have a lower self esteem and higher risk of eating disorders; because young adults know that images such as the ideal women it's not a reality. I am Hispanic and of course I watch TV in Spanish, so when I see that during a commercial many advertisements try to persuade the most vulnerable people to buy the magazine People en Español for only 12 dollars, I start thinking that after these magazines, are edited on the computer to erase flaws and imperfections, the company illustrates how many famous artists look skinny. In order to gain more customers the magazine provides the a section with the top secret that the artist uses to look skinny and perfect. This is being used in order to make people want to buy the magazine. Do you think that this magazine affect the way I perceive myself? This does not affect the way I perceive myself and body. I know that this only demonstrates that they are fake, while taking away the natural beauty of a woman and replacing it with how the “Ideal” women should
