Within standard 6 the ideals of growing as a professional is broken down. The process of becoming a professional is not limited to the years we are in college. I feel this standard is a springboard to a life-long process of learning. As an Early Childhood Professional, we must do our best to be informed on the latest issues that affect children and their families. Our education and knowledge must be broad enough to encompass all the children we take care of. It is also important that we as educators take into consideration that each child and family comes from a unique background with distinct needs. We must work together with other individuals and agencies in a collaborative approach for the benefit of all children and their families. …show more content…

As a teacher, I have learned that I need to use ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practices. All the ECE classes, I have taken has provided me the opportunity to learn and uphold the NAEYC code of conduct and other early childhood professional guidelines such as ethical standards. It is important for early childhood educators to understanding of the ethical standards we are expected to go by. I have also gained the understanding that being a member of a profession means that you take every opportunity to interact and work with other members of the profession. These interactions can take place schools or at conferences and workshops. The information we gather should then be shared with other professions, the children and their families. The artifacts I have included that demonstrates my understanding of this standard includes Child Development Credential and a membership to the National Association for the Education of Young Children
