Throughout my high school career, I have discovered and refined my passions. I have found myself fascinated by the human mind, international travel, and learning about different cultures from around the globe. NYU’s top Psychology program and global setting of New York City is undoubtedly the best fit for my learning style and personality.
My interest in psychology has been cultivated throughout the past few years; from writing a research paper about the psychological state of Nero in my Latin class to creating a podcast about the psychological influence of social media on today’s youth in my media literacy class, I’ve always wanted to learn more.
Over the summer of 2015, I merged my passion for international travel and psychology; I was ecstatic. I spent four weeks studying Psychology and International Business Management at Oxford University through Oxford Advanced Studies Program (OASP). OASP provided me with an unforgettable experience through exploring interesting topics, engaging with other educationally inclined students from around the globe, and creating memories that have collectively shaped my perspective of the world. Upon my return from Oxford University, I continued my internship from the previous summer at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History lab where I worked closely with a graduate student and renowned research botanist. My internship helped me refine my interests and provided me with valuable lab experience. I learned that I found lab work intriguing; however, rather than working with plant DNA, I wanted to try neuroscience.
