Success of any organization relies on how well they execute and utilize their management information systems. MIS is defined as the management and use of information systems that help organizations achieve their strategies. (Kroenke, 2015) Within the MIS are five major components: people, hardware, software, data and procedures. Each play a critical role in the success of an organization.
OOBE Uniforms and Apparel, Inc. was incorporated in 1994 in Greenville, SC and began as an outdoor apparel company. In 2006, OOBE stepped out of outdoor apparel and began providing branded apparel for Chick-fil-A. Matt’s prior experience has shown most organization OOBE’s size typically have an IT coordinator or an employee in business applications managing multiple roles within the IT department. OOBE’s IT team consists of seven employees, each with a unique skill set, providing a wide range of capabilities. The IT team consists of a Senior Director of Technology Innovations, Senior Manager of Technology Projects, Director of Business Applications, Business Intelligence & Data Integration Coordinator, IT Coordinator, an e-Commerce Architect and an e-Commerce Web Developer. OOBE also has an advantage over their competitors with website customization for their clients. “Having in-house developers sets us apart, where we can build and customize our websites. We present, here’s what we can do for you, let’s have a conversation about what works best for you. We try to not only meet their needs from an apparel standpoint, but also from a technology standpoint with all websites custom built to client’s specifications.” (M. Daniel, personal communication, July 14, 2017) Recently this was executed with integrating OOBE’s Coca-Cola website with Coca-Cola’s procurement system. As a result, Chick-fil-A is requesting a similar process, while Bloomingdale’s requires a more intensive customization from OOBE to sync with their procurement system.
