When a family member gets sick those of us with healthcare don’t think about it much. What about people who don’t have health care? How do they take care of it? Obamacare has been a huge problem, and no one is fixing it, the people who need it most can't pay, and doctors may not be giving us the care we need, or deserve. Health care needs to be fixed. The lives of so many depend on it. Obamacare has been breaking people down for years. It was meant to help, not to hurt. First of all, obamacare is not universal. Hence some people not getting care. Obamacare is expected to cover 26 million people by 2024, but it doesn’t look like that will happen. Many families are now realizing they can't pay for Healthcare in their darkest moments. Imagine a family member gets sick, really sick. They end up in the hospital and the doctor hands you a clipboard with a big number at the bottom. A number too big to see because your eyes fog up, and you remember you don’t have health care. Only because you can’t pay for it. Low income families suffer this problem. Families in low income housing were relying on Obamacare because ”Obamacare was supposed to make health coverage affordable, or even free” (Young). Many families are now feeling lied to because it was supposed to be cheap, but ended up costing more than they planned it would. Hospitals always take in patients, but it doesn’t really mean that they have to provide comprehensive care for that person. Lisa Federman states that “People who have chronic conditions who need specialists do suffer.” Basically meaning that people who are in bad conditions and can't pay for their care suffer the consequences. Unfortunately Medicaid wasn’t expanded because the supreme court didn’t approve, which means that many lives are in danger. It may not seem like a big deal because after all, it’s just an expansion… right? Not good care. We go into the doctor and get some kind of care, sometimes we don’t realize that we aren’t getting the care we deserve. Why exactly do we pay for bad health care anyways? Many fellow americans are watching money disappear with every doctor's visit. Why? Because all of the bad care money is getting sucked up into the doctor’s office. We pay for bad health care because it is the only thing giving us hope for our loved ones, sometimes we don’t even realize we are getting bad care. Many of us think we are being helped. With these useless visits many people go bankrupt because of medical bills. Most of us are dying from healthcare. That’s no metaphor. “Patients AND doctors are victims” (Byock). Ira Byock explains that “The overprescribing, special referrals, overpriced pharmaceuticals are snatching our paycheck and taking our money, leaving us.” Some doctors don’t get how much it costs, and they keep packing it on. Those costs increase the costs for medical practices and when those practices go higher in price, many people who need it are left with little or no money. Have you ever thought of where that money goes? Well it doesn’t go to patients, that's for sure. Those prices go to the insurance company just to make a profit. The excessive testing is for the money to go to profit… Is it worth
