In 2014 for the first time more people have died from obesity than starvation. North Shore.org tells us “That over ninety seven million adults in America are obese or overweight.” The weight issue must be coming from somewhere right? When you think about weight gain and where it comes from you usually start thinking about food and, what kind of food you are eating that could cause weight gain. I think it's coming from the fatty sugary processed foods that are being manufactured by big food companies that only care about the money they receive and not the well being of their customers. I don’t think so. Obesity is one of the leading causes of death in America. To be obese, you must be extremely overweight. That weight comes from food like candy, cupcakes, soda and, a lot more. All the foods I listed have one thing in common, they are all sugary and sweet. It makes you think that if all the food that causes weight gain are sugary could sugar be a leading issue in the weight gain problem in America? Did you know that food companies do not provide you with the percentage of sugar on the food label? The reason why is because they know what the consumers being you and I like, and that’s sugar. They think that we knowing the percentage of sugar will change how we look at food. And it should because the stuff they are selling to us is fat, sugar, and lies. They tell us that the food they sell is healthy and that it 10 percent less fat or something like that but really 10 percent less fat is double the amount of sugars or salts added to it to make us like their food better and think that it taste good but is still healthy because, of fat that they took …show more content…

What’s confusing is if the government is aware of the weight issue of america and they know where it's coming from which would be the food industry then why don't they at least make the food companies tell us what we are really eating? Well the people running the food industry are aware of that to but when they think of putting the percentage of sugar on their label then all they really see is losing money. So they send out a lobbyist to sway the decision making of an important figure that has a say in what's happening. Some people claim that switching to a healthier diet cost a lot more money than the cheap sugary processed foods. Fed Up says that a chicken breast, a gallon of milk, fruit, vegetables, spices and, juice cost a total of 13.56 but four sodas, four fries, and two burgers from a fast food restaurant cost 26.74. So if eating healthier cost less why are people still choosing the unhealthy
