Diversity is a key ingredient of college campuses all of the country, but it is especially pertinent here at Oklahoma State University. The Institutional Diversity Office here at Oklahoma State defines diversity as “engagement in meaningful actions, behaviors, and conversations that reflect a commitment to recognizing, understanding, and respecting the differences among students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the OSU system.” Before researching this certain subject, I did not know that Oklahoma State had an office strictly to make sure that diversity within OSU is kept. However, after reading about the mission of the diversity office within OSU, it is clear that the university is devoted to making sure that students of all races and ethnicities are welcomed with open arms. This is not surprising although considering that there is such a big push by the American society to make sure that the same opportunities are offered for everyone in the world. For instance, at Texas Tech University, the mission of the diversity division is to prepare leaders of all ethnicities to make a difference in the world today. Also, at Wells Fargo, they offer specific inclusions and opportunities for people of all races and ethnicities as well as having a rich history of diversity within their organization. I think that the immense amount of effort that companies are committing to ensuring diversity within their corporations definitely affects me as an individual trying to get a job. Not that it will completely prevent me from getting a job, but as of right now if I applied to a job in a big corporation along with someone of a different race with the same qualifications, then I think it would go to the other
