The main issue discussed in chapter 10 of the book “Affirming Diversity: The Sociopolitical Context of Multicultural Education” by Sonia Nieto and Patty Bode, was the issue of bilingual programs never having enough support by schools. In addition “bilingual teachers have been segregated programmatically and physically from other staff members, making both teachers and students feel isolated from the community (p.380)”. This issue has always been highly debated because while some people believe bilingual programs work, others believe the opposite. Regardless of who is right or wrong, the truth is that we live in a country that

Many people have mixed opinions on required reading. Some may enjoy it while others tend to despise it. Required reading is normalized in today’s society, and many teachers assign novels for the whole class to read. If a student is uninterested in the novel, they won’t be as motivated to do work in school, so choosing the right book is important. It is necessary for students to be able to relate or find some sort of connection to the story or character being talked about.

How might these personal and/or educational experiences enable you to contribute something unique to The Ohio State University? Note: Don’t forget to provide examples.
A. Diversity. Diversity means that all individuals are different and have their own characteristics unique to them and their own identity. Every individual should be treated fairly regardless of any reason, be it beliefs, culture, age or ability. B. Equality.
Diversity means understanding that every individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. Understanding that diversity includes not only ways of being but also ways of knowing. For example, at work, I have to interact with co-workers of different genders, age groups, faiths and so on.
Diversity in relation to people basically means we are all different. This could include our age, gender, where we live, our religious beliefs to how we dress. All these factors make us all individual and unique. Equality means we are all entitled to be treated fairly. We should all be given the same rights.
Equality and diversity are ideas that promote and accept the differences between people. Promoting the equality and diversity of education is crucial for both teachers and students. The aim is to create an environment where all people can thrive together and understand that individual characteristics make people unique and not ‘different’ in a negative way. We will assess some of these topics by citing detailed examples from some countries and then using findings from the Eurostudent project - which includes the widest international comparative studies in higher education or student affairs [x], to analyse the situation in general.
Prejudice is“an opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.” In the United States, black people could not sit in the front of buses or use the same water fountains as white people until the 1950s and 1960s, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese that lived in the US were rounded up and put into camps because of the war with Japan and the holocaust happened because of a prejudice towards jewish, homosexual and disabled people. Those are all historical examples of prejudice. And I would like to think that we have learned from our history, but there’s still prejudice happening around the world today. Maybe not as large of a scale as say, the holocaust, (But people are still denying that it happened, and that’s less than a
