In order to implement Operation Ceasefire and find out if Ceasefire is appropriate I would have to collect the following information regarding the local gangs and their activities, joining the gang, gang behavior, social identities, violence, drugs and the organizational structure. Joining a gang is considered risky activity, based on research of Melde & Esbensen (2011), youths with low self-control that join gangs, their victimization rates elevate. McGloin (2007), examined microlevel processes to better understand gang behavior and the group dynamics. The studies discovered the factors encouraging the behavior and the reasons why certain activities are so central to gang identities. The gangs are considered groups rather than individuals within the gang, and their behavior can be understood within a broader work of acting as group.

The language and violence play a major role but violence plays a role in a way you would not think. The language and violence intertwine because the harsh language is to prove their reputation and show they are loose cannons, but they also must engage in violence to prove they are more than talk (Decker, 1996; Kubrin, 2005). Gang violence is highly misunderstood. It is usually looked upon as gang rivalries but the misconception is wrong. The violence among gangs is usually within themselves. In some cities, however, it does seem that most gang violence is attributable to intergang (rather than intragang) rivalries (Kennedy, 1997). The relationship between organization and violence is, as yet, not fully understood. Some researchers find that members of tightly organized gangs commit more violence (Decker, Katz, & Webb, 2008), while others document that neighborhoods with more loosely organized gangs experience more conflict (Howell, 2010; Hughes,
