It is my pleasure to apply for the operational analyst position with the WBG's labor and social protection unit. I am an international development professional with extensive professional experience working for the UN system and its civil society partners. I hold a master's degree specializing in international and development economics (with honor) from the University of California, San Diego, and I hold a bachelor's degree from Jilin University China specializing in labor/social welfare and actuarial science. In graduate school, I was rigorously trained in theories of development economics and political economy to develop a good understanding of the world's public policy through an economic lens, and it is also in graduate school that I further honed my skills in data analytics and developed a passion for solving development problems in a quantitative approach. Apart from being well-prepared in terms of technical knowledge, I have relevant professional experience which will significantly strengthen my application. I am currently working at the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) evaluating the GEF's partnership expansion, and an important task of my work is to conduct the portfolio analysis in order to depict the co-movement of the GEF's expanding partnership and the GEF's project portfolio.
