Going back to calculating how much it costs to acquire a customer needs to be a big factor in this decision, after all if you have spent $300.00 or more to acquire just one customer, then spending another $50.00 or so to retain that customer will be money well spent. However, spending $300.00 to retain a customer that you spent only $10.00 to acquire isn’t justifiable either. For this particular product, customer support should be minimal, providing email support to begin with and later an 800 number after sales have increased to be able to justify to costs, since marula oil doesn’t have any moving parts to break there will be little to have to support, however there may be some customers who demand a refund due to unforeseen circumstances, so providing customer support via email would be crucial, perhaps having someone that can do a live chat to help customer would also be a benefit to support and retain customers.
