We have learned in the course that to be successful as a manager requires many particular sets of skills. These skills are not used to increase sells by himself, nor create the newest and mind changing strategies; but to put together a team and build the skills require to perform the activities needed to make the business run smoothly and achieve the goals needed. Companies like Union First Bank & Trust are well aware that management is the key for the business success is a good manager that will make a business very run smooth, because they will be able to obtain a stable results. Pankaj Soni, manager of the West Springfield branch for Union Bank & Trust, has been managing that branch for about three years. In his career he said that keys for success in the business is leadership, communication and teamwork. Leadership is such a broad term since it incorporates all aspects of being a leader. Mr. Soni shared with me his annual goals he gets at the bank and it seems almost unachievable. He breaks down the goals by month and then by week, after all the goals have been divided within the year it looked so much better to the point that I felt like anyone can make the goals. Mr. Soni mention that he divides the goals amongst his subordinates and make them accountable for the goals. They check weekly for their progress, if they reach their goals at the end of each quarter they get their quarter bonus. He mention that each one is accountable to their assign goal. He added that there has been times that they missed the goals by a minimum number of required accounts but they were praised by upper management for their hard work.
