Personal/Professional Goals:
When I was attending American Samoa Community College, I had my mind set on becoming a nurse. I took a lot of science classes and for electives it was either science or any course related to nursing; it was like that my whole first year of college. Honestly, I’ve never even knew that there was a field called Sociology or Social Work. My second year in ASCC started and I decided to take courses besides courses related to nursing. So, I took a sociology class; and it took me by surprise.
Taking the intro to sociology class during my years at ASCCC plus intro to Social Work class I took my first year at UH Hilo was what influenced me to become a social worker. I have learned so much about the field. I am someone who …show more content…

I will not lie if I say that I passed all classes like flying colors, because my transcript speaks otherwise. I will not lie if I say that I didn’t do my very best because I know I did. Every time I know that I didn’t do so good, I would come the next semester with a new goal and new mindset that “I can do and will do so much better than the semester before.” I have planned that if I do get into Walden, I will do so much better than before. I will invest my time and will prioritize work, taking care of my parents and grandparents and with school. I will also use my academic experience at UH Hilo as a guide if I do get a chance at Walden.

Work/Other Experience:

During my undergraduate years I took an internship class towards my last year. I did my internship at the Department of Human and Social Services (Children and Family Services division) in American Samoa for few months. I had a really great experience, it made me love the field of Social work even more. The employers were great and not only that I have learned so much from them. I am willing to use that experience as a guideline if I attend Walden. I am currently working at the LBJ Tropical Medical Hospital in American Samoa as a Social worker. Honestly, it is not an easy job but it is an experience to work in a place different from where I did my internship. I am still learning and I am willing to learn even more and to widen my experience with Walden University.
