Throughout the course of my life I have become more aware of how much Law is all around me. I have been passionate about Law for many years, so much so that it made me step out of my comfort zone and move to a different Sixth Form just so I could have the option to study Law. I have been introduced to many aspects of Law throughout this A Level, which has captivated me from the start.
I wish to study Law in higher education because it will challenge me to look at situations and people in a different way that I normally would. I will also be able to develop the foundation skills that I have gained from A level Law and apply them to helping people. In class we regularly debate cases that have been in the news and we look at the facts to make our own judgements rather than the views that the media imposes on us. I have a desire to reduce the kind of scrutiny that people are put under from the media before they have been to court because I feel that the law should be able to protect people from trial by media. Through Psychology I have developed my critical response and analytical approach when writing essays, which has allowed me to look at evidence and plan a tactical argument for the specific topic. Applied Science has provided me with the skill to apply knowledge to real world jobs and topics. I believe that I have developed the skill of application further through the different types of coursework that I have completed. I have also been able to transfer this skill to Law when we do study cases in the news and relate our knowledge to those cases, for example we cover sleep walking as a sleep disorder in Psychology and it is also comes under the general defence of insanity.
