Receiving an email from my school counselor in the summer, I realized that I was going to start the new school year as a peer leader. After a long process, I was selected to be a peer leader; I was extremely proud and delighted. As a dedicated peer leader in my senior year of high school, I learned numerous information about myself that have turned me into an outstanding student. Seeing myself in the freshmen put my frame of mind into an innovative and humble perspective.
Two years ago, when I just transferred from China to the United States, I never thought that I could be a leader since everything was fresh to me. To adapt to my new life, I decided to join the basketball team because it is my favorite sport, and I have played it since elementary school. Playing on the team aided me to be acquainted with groups of my schoolmates and integrate into my new school. Through this experience, I made new friends and improved my communicating skill. In retrospect, I deem that this decision assists me to cross the first threshold to become a peer leader. When I first transferred, I learned that it is paramount to be confident and persistent in adverse times and situations, and it encouraged me to build a repository of courage moving forward and gain valuable time management skills that sustained me to manage a hectic schedule. Now I understand that the transformation benefits me in completing all the work comfortably and plays a vital role in my growth from an ordinary student to a peer leader. As a peer leader, I use my experience to help those students who seem like to follow the same path as I did. I let them know that taking responsibility for their actions is the first step towards a bright
