To be successful, in the hotel industry you need to be different. You need to be involved in many clubs and organizations, that not every is involved in. Also, you should be involved in many organizations, not just one. After, I am done with getting settled in school, I plan to join the Hospitality Leadership Association. I believe, being around other students in the same major, will be rewarding to be able to ask questions whenever I need to. This is not the only organization I plan to join at Johnson & Wales but it will be a good start for my degree. An organization is defined by a group with more than four students who have the same common interest. The same common interest in Hospitality Leadership Association is to gain experience in the professional world. To gain experience, would include going to events, programs, and presentations of experts in the hospitality industry. This would be great experience to speak with people in the industry and hear many stories of what got them there. This also could get me a job when I graduate. To join this club, I need to attend a meeting on Monday from six to seven pm and pay twenty dollars. After, I can apply to join the club and become a member. I would be working in reservations, answering phones, and making and finalizing any reservations. Working at a world travel company will mean I am making reservations all over the world. That would very interesting to have many places to choose from and decide on the best airlines and hotels for the guests. The reason I want to be a general manager is having a job that always changes and never having the same day. In this position my job would be like that. Also, working in reservations will prepare me for my future job. Reservations is a very important part of all hotels and it is very important I am very familiar with
