Recommended: Importance of teacher role
At the age of ten being raised by minority parents was very difficult for me at the time. At the age of ten I was forced for my English and Spanish vocabulary to be very proficient due to always translating for my parents. At that age learning both languages was annoying, frustrating, and difficult; however that experience shaped me to be a proficient bilingual nurse present and gain benefits by being bilingual. The benefits where the many open job opportunities with the increase pay. This experience also assisted to raise my daughter to speak and write both languages actively although just not the way my parents forced it on me.
I strive to be a leader in and out of the classroom. In general, I try to encourage others and provide my help when needed, every day at school. Whether it is helping a friend out in math at lunch or being a leader by example through doing my homework or volunteering in class, I try to lead each day. As well as in the classroom, I strive to be a leader when I play sports. As a three sport varsity athlete, I spend lots of my time on the court and on the field working to better my game and myself.
Beyond the application, LSAT score, and Grade Point Average, who am I. I am an African American, young woman from a lower economical status. My intersectionality qualities are what help describe me but do not define me, although I have faced hardships, I have not allowed any of the adversities I have faced stop me from excelling and achieving my goals. Fifteen years ago someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and why? My response at eight years old was that I wanted to become a lawyer, because I like to argue and research things. My other reason for wanting to become a lawyer was to help keep my brothers out of trouble by being able to provide representation.
Marketing communications is a dynamic field that requires individuals with specific academic and professional qualities to excel. Some academic and professional qualities I hold are strong communication skills, creativity, analytical ability, adaptability, and an in-depth understanding of consumer behavior. I believe one of the most essential qualities for success in Marketing Communications is outstanding communication skills. I can communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, customers, and colleagues. I can convey complex ideas clearly and concisely and tailor my communication style to suit different audiences.
The healthcare field is an intricate and vital system. The world of healthcare provides ample opportunity to make a difference in someone's life and it provides many different ways to do so. As a teenager I knew that I wanted to work in the healthcare industry, but I wasn't sure which route to take until high school where I found my passion for the field of pharmacy. I chose pharmacy because I really enjoy the chemistry and biology behind it. The Doctor of Pharmacy program would not only help me make an impact in the healthcare world, but advance my talents as a leader as well.
In ten years I aspire to accomplish many of the dreams that I have set for myself. One of those dreams ties in with why I want to go to PSU. I hope to learn the skills necessary to be successful as a software developer for a company. Being a software developer means that I will be working long hours, and dedicating a lot of time to work projects. However, I see myself enjoying my job, as well as continue to learn as I go.
Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in several extracurricular activities. Some of these activities include: National Honor Society, Student Council (treasurer), FFA, Marching & Concert Band (treasurer), baseball, tennis (team captain), track, and basketball. Academic All-State (tennis), Highest Honors, top 10 in my class, senior homecoming court, Tri-County Citizen Athlete of the Month, most respected underclassman award, TVC Second Team All-Conference (tennis), 2015 tennis state qualifier, sportsmanship award for tennis & baseball, member of TVC Honors Band, and Freshman Class Representative.
“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” - Joseph Campbell. Throughout the 2016-2017 school year I have grown both academically and personally. I was able to challenge myself with classes I never thought I would be taking and successfully learn the lesson given. I can now say I took certain classes, such as AP Chemistry, AP U.S History and AP English Language and was able to acquire new knowledge on these classes.
As a high school student, I’ve always strived to improve myself and develop my character through interactions with other students. Every week I look back, reflect, and draw lessons on the week before, improving myself step by step, through small but steady increments. At school, I see myself as a tacit leader, a leader not necessarily through words, but rather through actions and examples—taking into account the image that I exude and actions that represent who I am. Hence, as mentioned before, I am always finding new ways to better myself and seeking new opportunities to hone my leadership skills. Over the years, my involvement in various outside activities has allowed me to develop an introspective, self improving regime that has helped me
I am captivated by the way in which Fashion is cyclical and how the Fashion Marketing Industry holds such a substantial influence over the styles of people, eras and cultures. For this reason I have chosen to do Fashion Marketing as a Degree. It fascinates me how unconsciously we are all victims of marketing new or modified fashion trends through our own individual street style. One of my favourite trends that has been present in my style is the Mod Look of the mid 1960s as this was the generation of the youth of London. I believe this is culturally significant for myself as a British teenager as it reflects the history of fashion.
My family has been the most significant influence on my life. They have provided a great foundation on which to build my future. From generation to generation my family has taught family values which, in turn, have led to the learning and appreciation of discipline, respect, manners, love, making good choices and being a good example to others. Together, with these tools for building character, introduced to me early in life, I have learned to set high goals for myself and strive to reach those goals and have learned that hard, persistent work is very rewarding.
The need to care for others I feel motivated when I can help someone and seeing them take my advice. It’s like an accomplishment when you get to help others and see them make a change for the better in their life. My friends would usually ask me for advice or help in academic wise and in relationship or personal issues, and being able to help them makes me feel significant and grateful. I personal enjoy helping others and I try my best to help as much as I can even though I may not be able to resolve the problem.
As I go through this Assessments, I have found out that I am a stressful person. There are some areas I can improve upon such as in my healthy diet and schooling life. The first thing is doing exercise because it is also part of to be healthy person. I don’t always do exercise and that can have a big effect on my health. As it comes to eating, I don’t eat too much food so it might have big effect on my health.
Why do people want to become teachers? There is low pay, long hours, little benefits, students have more rights than teachers. I want to be a teacher because I want to make a difference and change every child’s heart that I come into contact with. Teaching is one of those jobs where you get to be an undercover angel, because you are able to effect so many different lives by caring and teaching. You matter not only to one person in an office, but for 18-20 kids.
“God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.” My high school experience was decent. I went to Crossland High School for my freshman and sophomore years and attended Dr. Henry A. Wise High School my junior and senior years. Me transferring schools was a big step. When one changes schools, they have to start over completely.
