My purpose for seeking a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration is to expand my knowledge of the practices needed to adequately help prospective students and their families obtain an education. I want to improve my professional skills, as I feel the importance of learning different aspects of what makes each department work is necessary to becoming a lifelong learner as I prepare myself for a career in higher education. I realize the importance of gaining respect amongst my future colleagues is imperative to be successful in the field.

In the search process I found Wentworth Institute of Technology. Wentworth opened the door to my career path and allowed me to gain experience in the Registrar’s office as the Operations Coordinator. Working at Wentworth I felt it was necessary to learn many different tasks in order to fully understand what it took to work in the Registrar’s Office. Being able to learn about different aspects of my job and attending conferences allowed me to gain knowledge in policies and practices required to make the institute run more efficiently. I was fortunate enough to spear head a few policies of my own, for example; the institute at the time processed transcripts only by paper request. Through my research in the field along with my colleagues we discovered that most universities were now moving towards online request and processing. We pitched a vendor service called Script-Safe, this required the team to implement a series of test trainings and budget concerns before launching the service. After Scrip-Safe met the necessary requirements to go live, my manager along with the institute moved towards online request for transcripts. As a team realizing that we received recognition from the Wentworth community that Scrip-Safe’s new direction would better service the students was a proud
