Nursing is a profession which appeals to me. I have volunteered countless hours at Palos Community Hospital, and I witnessed both sides of the professions of doctors and nurses. In those hours of volunteering, I realized that the importance of nurses is equivalent if not greater than doctors. Besides giving patients medicine and performing tests, nurses provide diligent care to their patients, and I saw this when my mother was in the hospital. The interaction that happens between nurse and patients fascinated me. Along with observing the nurse-patient relationship, my love of anatomy and biology influenced me to pursue nursing. Anatomy and biology are subjects which appeal to me, so much so that I earned an “A” in my anatomy class, which at my school is taught similarly to an AP level class. I also placed into AP Biology for a senior class. All of these indicators evince my passion for the nursing field. …show more content…

My qualities would indicate that I am an ideal candidate for GPPA. I am determined to help others in need as much as I can. During high school, I aided my anatomy teacher, who needed help setting up lab practicals. I gave up my lunch frequently to help my anatomy teacher during one half and the other half I would tutor a struggling student in Anatomy. Along with the desire to help, I have developed patience. I have been working with special education students both my junior and senior years. I have worked with a variety of buddies, and occasionally they are refractory. I am never irritated; instead, I work with them to problem-solve a better solution for their behavior.
