Sharing oneself is important to self growth and helps one discover their passions. Through volunteer work, I discovered new hobbies, strengths, and interests and aided others in doing so. In giving my time and effort to the benefit of others, I am not only bettering others, but growing myself. I share in the service of others because of the importance it holds for others while allowing me to be prepared to execute my passions in a positive and impactful way. Generosity was instilled in me at a young age because I grew up sharing with my close sister and giving to others. My mother enforced a need to help those less fortunate than me by attempting to reap enjoyment from my sister and me. My earliest memory of helping those less fortunate came through a church project. I have participated in Stop Hunger Now projects, and I delighted in them, through my childhood. Measuring out rice for food packets or running around the church with carts was fun for a young child, and it helped me mentally tie volunteer work and pleasure …show more content…

Specifically, I have volunteered at a summer camp for the past seven years. I started as a student at the camp and there discovered my passion for the sport. In awe of my coaches who found such joy in helping me discover and learn about a sport I grew to love, I worked to follow in their footsteps. I have such a strong love for tennis because it helped me ‘come out of my shell’ and greatly aided in my discovery of myself. Because I was aided so much through the sport, I wished to help other children through tennis. Due to their dedication, I grew to idolize my tennis coaches for helping me discover my passions and remained faithful to the camp in hopes of becoming a coach.
