An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff and Alex Trensniowski is a memoir about Laura's reaction to her close friend Maurice’s toast at her 50th birthday. Laura and Maurice both played a significant role in each other's life as they both influenced and taught each other many things. Laura had helped Maurice as he grew up and Maurice had taught Laura about love and friendship. Throughout Maurice's Toast, he talked about how much Laura had impacted and changed his life.
I’m most proud of my two terms as ASB Director of Communications, the student spokesperson for the ASB and faculty. The job demands proficiency in graphic design, public speaking, and time management; responsibilities include creating posters, broadcasting PSAs, commentating class competitions, and sending weekly emails to an audience of 1600 students. I’ve led two ASB committees to coordinate our school’s Stanford Blood Drive and FairTrade Initiative. I’m also the go-to guy who answers all students’ general questions. How many times a week does an email from a complete stranger pop up in the inbox?
In my own life application, I believe I could effectively use informatics to help me in my current role by utilizing databases to query for business analysis to save my company money. In my current job I am responsible for managing operation cost and finding ways to cut our outgoing spending while capitalizing our end profits. With informatics, I want to learn how to develop a system for our network that tracks our profitability and compares our operating cost in real time. This system would have to be complex but what I hope to take away from this class is a better understanding of how systems work so I can take my idea to our IT team and see if we can make my system a reality. Why I should stay a Server Manager :D I should remain on the staff team because I’ve helped this community in many ways. I’ve been on everyday on Teamspeak so that if I'm needed I'm here. I try to have the best character I can on this community by being funny and friendly and serious at the appropriate times. As a Server Manager, I'm here to help everyone I possibly can whenever it's with donations, questions, banning someone, or just simply giving my opinion. Furthermore, I understand that I've made decent relationships with members, staff members, also with the higher-ups.

Why do I want to be Staff? I would love the opportunity to be staff because I would like to make the server a more friendly place for all the users that come across this wonderful server. I have often found, with the late nights I have had recently, that there are never any moderators on. I would like to change that. With me as helper the chat can be a safe environment for all the youngsters that play on the server that do not be introduced to swearing or inappropriate themes spoken of at such a young age.
Technology is an attribute in everyday society that is always developing and changing. Technology is a lot more than just electrons, technology is “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.” (Houghton Mifflin). This means that technology can be anything from agriculture, to electronics, and even social interactions. Throughout the hundreds of years, technology has changed into something we use for daily tasks, communication with one another, and how our world works from the past to present day.
My fascination with the discipline of psychology began in grade eleven when learning about Sigmund Freud’s theory of the unconscious mind, Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Stanley Milgram’s study on obedience etc. There were two reasons why I found Psychology so captivating, one was that I was able to apply it to my own personal life. This was something completely new since, subjects such as physics, chemistry, and math are sometimes hard to “see”, relate to, or apply to one’s life. The second reason was that whenever I had homework or assignments due for that class I never felt like I was actually “doing homework”, meaning, I was actually motivated to study and learn. Due to this unique feature that psychology had, I decided to study psychology for my bachelor’s degree.
