Personal Statement: A Career As A Web Editor-In-Chief

I, Lanie Sanders, have thoroughly enjoyed being the Feature Editor this semester. If you remember my semester portfolio, I said I was looking forward to going places in this class. The position I want next year (Web Editor-in-Chief) is one of those places. This is a position I really want, and I think that I would do quite well at the job. I love to write, that is the main reason I took Newspaper this year. Because I love journalism so much, I want to help others realize how much they love it. By being in charge of the website, I would be able to assign stories that are too urgent to put in the paper. When I joined staff this year, I had no idea what I was doing. But thanks to you, the other editors, and the Editor-in-Chief’s I was able to improve greatly. If I was Web Editor-in-Chief, I would be able to assign stories that are not confined to one section, and therefore I could, and would be able to help with all different kinds of stories. Another reason I want this position is because when Liz graduates, I want to take over the paper. I know it’s premature for me to say that, but I really do want to take it over. Being Web Editor-in-Chief would let me do a similar job without me having to jump into the hardcore job that is Paper EIC. But I really do think I would be good at this job. I love people, so working and helping all staffers is no issue. I’m organized, committed, and not at all forgetful, if something needs to be done, you can trust that I will do it. If selected for this position, I can 100% guarantee that my time and focus will be directed at this job. I will be able to stay after school, come in for lunches, and get a ton of work done for the entire school year. Also, I have some ideas that I think would benefit Central Focus as a whole, and I would love to be able to implement
